Annie Nimmo
BALLET / PILATES
Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Annie trained at Ballet Arts Minnesota under the direction of Bonnie Mathis and went on to join the Springboard Dance Company. In her youth she also trained with the American Ballet Theatre and Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts.

Annie went on to dance throughout college at UW-Madison and graduated with a BA in history. Following college she began dancing professionally with Madison Contemporary Vision Dance Company. Returning home in 2013, Annie joined the Continental Ballet Company, under the direction of Riet Velthuisen. From 2015-2019 Annie danced as a soloist with Ballet Minnesota, under the direction of Andrew Rist.

Annie has danced as a guest artist with numerous dance companies, including, Cities Classical Dance Ensemble, Saint Paul Ballet, and Stroia Ballet. Annie has had the opportunity to dance roles such as the Lilac Fairy (Sleeping Beauty), Rose (The Classic Nutcracker), Princess Florine (Sleeping Beauty), and the Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker).

Annie is incredibly passionate about teaching ballet. She has ten years experience teaching dancers in both classical and contemporary ballet, and has led the ballet program at some of Minnesota’s most competitive dance studios. She is skilled in training dancers in technique, pointe work, and in coaching students in classical ballet variations. In 2018, she competed with her dancers in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition where they were awarded placements in the top scores.

Annie is also an accomplished choreographer, she has created works for many of her students and her pieces have received numerous choreography and technique awards, high scores, and overall titles at national dance competitions and conventions, including, OnStage New York, NUVO, and the New York City Dance Alliance. Annie has also choreographed for professional dancers in Minnesota Fringe Festivals from 2016-2019 where her pieces were specifically highlighted in reviews.
